After a three-day weekend, it's sometimes hard to return to the office and jump right back into the swing of things. However, today is not one of those days because I was just awarded my annual bonus!!! Luckily, our company has been killing it in the growth & revenue departments, so everyone in my division was awarded the top-tier bonus. Unfortunately, I will only be receiving half because
I've only been with the company since June, but I will see an extra auto-deposit go into my account for just over $1,500 this Friday (boo for taxes).
Here's what I plan to do with the money in an effort to continue to meet
my 2012 goals:
- Budget/save $1,150 for my trip to Ireland this spring (retirement present for my Grandma!)
- Bump up February's extra mortgage payment by an additional $250
- Bump up February's savings by $150
- Treat myself to a hell of a lunch at Panera
Do you receive an annual bonus? If so, how do you plan to use it this year?
Ooo Ireland. That sounds exciting. I would love to visit there one day. Glad to see you have balanced goals for your money.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Miss T! I'm excited about Ireland and certainly happy to have it paid for completely before I leave!
DeleteI don't get bonuses. I'm jealous of those that do! but my company pays pretty well, so I guess I can't complain.
ReplyDeleteGreat compensation is nothing to sneeze at; it's great that you work for a company that pays you well!
DeleteCongrats! That's awesome.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle! If only it was as large as the bonus you received last month...haha!
DeleteCool deal. I like your padding the mortgage payment. Smart...
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's another one of my annual goals--I'm trying to pay an extra $9K this year
DeleteYeah, it is called anything that is left over from the two businesses that I run. Okay so if I work really really hard I get a bonus, as in I get to pay my bills! But I am fortunate to love what I do. Great job by the way on using the bonus to help you further your goals.
ReplyDeleteWow, 2 businesses?! I need to pick your brain for tips/advice because I'm launching one myself!
DeleteWow!! Good for you. Having a place for every penny of it is such a great idea. BTW do you have a Panara customer card? If not get one before eatting, when you register it on line you get a free desert!!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I just registered it and can't wait for the influx of sugar :)
DeleteWe receive an end-of-the-year bonus just before Christmas. This year, I used the bonus to buy Christmas presents. Without debt, I'll have enough of a cash flow for Christmas presents in a month. But because of the bonus, I was able to make my regular debt payment for December. So that was pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your bonus! :)
That's awesome that you did so well last month, nice work!! How many days are we at now, 42??! ;)
DeleteI wish I got one but I don't. Being a government worker it is the same salary all of the time. I get great benefits though.
ReplyDeleteIf I did get a bonus I would invest it and boost my RRSP contribution.
Oooh...great benefits are the best! It's good to know you're being taken care of that way
DeleteBonuses are the best. Our company had a great last quarter of 2011, so I did see the return of the Christmas bonus (it got nixed in 2010). I used it to replenish our emergency fund after it had been bled dry by a massive car repair. Boring, but also good because I didn't have to resort to drastic frugal measures to get the fund back where it needed to be.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome news and I definitely don't think beefing up the E-fund is a boring thing (I'm such a PF nerd, eh?) :)
DeleteI love the last bullet - "Treat myself to a hell of a lunch at Panera" - so cute. Congrats on the bonus!
ReplyDeleteHaha...thanks! I'm pretty sure Google will heavily reprimand me for swearing in my posts/comments, but it is what it is. I have yet to get that lunch though...hmmmm.... :p
